Writing - Perspective of a "Plastic Bag"

Plastic bag
Inspired/themed on “Stop plastic bags”

It was an average monday at the mall, loud voices chattering and that annoying beeping noise as items were being purchased for the needs (or desperate wants) of a human being. I was the third from the front at the personal checkout, quite boring until you finally get purchased, if you didn’t figure it out: I’m a plastic bag.

At last, I was finally at the front of the line: there were very little personal checkouts so it wasn’t long till I was purchased and stored with such heavy items: Fizzy drinks, chip packets, lotion and some other festive items. The human being that purchased me held my handle real tight, I honestly felt like I was gonna be torn. Luckily I didn’t. The human rushed me towards his vehicle of transport, which was quite messy and quite unhygienic. I was felt absolutely disgusted but Plastic bags don’t have any senses, but if they did I would be absolutely disgusted.

The drive was quite long, I stared at the window but Plastic bags don’t have eyes yet again but if they did, I would be staring outside the window. It was nearly dark by the time the human finally transported us to the destined destination. The human opened the booth of the transportation vehicle and dragged me out, then taking me out towards this beautiful scenery. The human was greeted by other humans, over some of the chatter: my main human took the heavy items out of me which was a great relief which made me feel completely light, light as a feather.

The festive celebrating (or party) seemed to went on for many hours, my human left me under a rock so I wouldn’t be blown away by the haunting wind, he didn’t notice me after that time. Later on there were loud noises, worst noises then back at the checkout. Red and blue flashed while loud angry voices called out to them, yet again I’m a plastic bag that has no ears so I shouldn’t be able to but if I did, my ears would be bleeding right now. I saw my human walk straight up the beach, leaving me behind, then never returning.

Two days passed and yet no sight of my human (who purchased me), I felt absolutely wasted on the beach. Many humans passed but none cared for my presence, until one day: A young human appeared, seemingly to head towards me but when the human reached which I thought was for me, the human reached for the rock which made me remain on the beach. The young human left me: running off towards other humans.
I felt the cold wind breath right onto me, I felt myself slowly drift across the smooth surface ground, further and further I went. Since I was a plastic bag, I have no way of escaping the howling winds so I allowed myself to be taken away.

I finally reached the deeply blue liquid yet it seemed that the strange liquid carried me, I wasn’t sinking yet I was drifting a great distance away from land. Another two days passed ever since that young human was the reason why I’m here. I felt more and more useless, since I was unable to move or communicate to anything. If I could hear, I heard the waves lapping over and over while some odd creatures flew above, making awfully loud noises.

Nothing happened during that entire time till one day, I seemed to sink into the great blue liquid since I’m a plastic bag, I couldn’t breath but if I could...I would be dying right now but gratefully I wasn’t. The more I sank, the more I felt more doomed. Eventually a strange creature swam towards me at a frightening speed, the creature seemed greatly hungry as the creature finally reached me: it began to bite at me, the great pain it would have felt if I had senses. The creature kept biting me, until I finally got the idea it was attempting to eat me. Many chances yet many fails until the creature's head got stuck inside of my plastic insides which I couldn’t do anything about it yet I felt great guilt even though it wasn’t my problem.

Minutes passed until the creature seemed to stop moving, yet began to float to the surface, motionless.
A day passed until the creature’s body (and I), finally drifted to the great solid land. The creature didn’t move, didn’t blink, didn’t show any signs of life, I wouldn’t know about life because I wasn’t actually alive myself. I thought for moments, thinking about what happened while I layed down at the beach with this dead creature, thinking about what plastic bags like me do to other creatures like this.
